While paler wood colours like bleached and whitewashed wood have always been the go-to choice, darker woods are now being embraced by more and more homeowners. It’s perhaps because they work beautifully with Maximalism interior trends that are expected to stay popular in 2023.

Think espresso, burgundy and dark chocolate woods to add a cosy, lived-in feel. Think fumed, smoked effect floors for a deeply-textured, dramatic look. Darker woods evoke a sense of snug warmth, and yet can imbue the space with sophistication and elegance.
